PD3D Team Greets the J750
The Prototype Development and 3D Print (PD3D) laboratory blends expertise in design, 3D modeling, 3D printing, electronics, prototyping, and experimental design, to transform ideas into products. PD3D is located in the heart of the University of Central Florida’s (UCF) Research Park, within the Institute for Simulation and Training (IST). IST’s laboratories, workspace, and administrative offices occupy more than 80,000 sq. ft. at its three Central Florida Research Park buildings. PD3D is located within Partnership 3 building along with academic and military research entities and occupies over 3,000 square feet of laboratory space.
Our organization offers infrastructure, personnel, and equipment suitable for the continued development and expansion of an advanced design and additive manufacturing lab. Current equipment capabilities include thirteen (13) 3D printers (including a Stratasys Polyjet J750), one (1) CNC router and laser cutter hybrid, one (1) 3D optical scanner, two (2) high-end modeling computers, and two (2) electronics and soldering stations. Our team has developed a patented method for the design and fabrication of composite materials with custom or tunable physical properties. This methodology takes advantage of the versatility and resolution of PolyJet systems and it is scalable to future models of the series.
