About This Project

Understanding the mechanical properties of 3D printed materials requires performing destructive tension, compression, and rotation experiments on materials samples. In addition to the broad spectrum of standard and new additive materials to be characterized, our team seeks to leverage different 3D printing technologies to improve on the standard mechanical characterization framework and protocols


Mechanical testing equipment, specifically uni-axial and bi-axial tension/compression systems, can be made out of 3D printer frames.
