About This Project

Currently, we are collaborating with Nemours Children’s Hospital to 3D Print surgical Planning models. MRI, CT, PET or X-ray images stacks are processed to determine different tissue types and segment them into anatomical structure models.  The full 3D Model is then printed in one or more materials and colors to provide to the surgical/medical team a full volumetric model to plan surgical approaches, dissection planes and to provide guidance to critical anatomy.  These models can show a child’s skull with a tumor embedded in the jaw bone.  The skull is printed in hard ivory colored material and the tumor in a soft amber material. We can then show the skull with the tumor removed to assist in planning reconstructive approaches.
